KENOLY FAMILY HISTORY HENERY STEVENS, JR. |
Henry Stevens Jr. had married Eliza by 1875. On May 5, 1887, he purchased a lot in Linn Creek from J. W. Vincent; A house was built and this became Henry and Eliza's home. A year later Henry bought another town lot, this one from J. H. Holt. This second generation Stevens family was obviously well liked and respected by their fellow townsmen. The marriage of Henry Jr's daughter, Julia, to Arthur Case was the social event of the year for the black population of Linn Creek and was attended by friends of both races. Julia was dressed in a pearl gray and white dress; her wedding cake, an "angel's food," was presented to the bride by a friend, Miss Edith King. Articles in The Reveille noted the trips that Henry's seven daughters made to visit relatives and when friends and family members came to their home. - {Source 12} Several months after the death of his father, Henry, Jr. sold his home of over thirty years and moved to Lebanon. He, his wife and youngest daughter joined other family members already living in Laclede County. Henry Jr's known descendants are listed below. - {Source 13} Descendants of Henry Stevens, Jr. 1 Henry Stevens, Jr. b: 1852 Camden County, MO
